Dear Husband:
We have been married for 365 days. Can you believe it?! The past year has been the best year I could have asked for. We have had so many changes - getting married, Bella joined our family, bought a house, I became a teacher, started Foundation Group, and recently we finally booked our real honeymoon that fulfills more than one dream!!
My favorite part of the day is when I hear you singing while you get ready for work. You are such a happy person. I cherish our Saturday mornings at Einstein Bros and the nights we just get to hang out together uninterrupted. I'm thankful for your strength, love, and desire to pursue God's heart.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for us - I love you!
Like the Stars,
Your Wifey

Bella Bombs: I made Mom mad.
This morning my Mom didn't even greet me. She just looked at me really mean and said something, then walked out the door. Then I remembered this....

This weekend, we had the privilege of celebrating our nephew's 7th birthday!! He came to stay with us Friday night and we went to Six Flags Saturday. What better way to spend your birthday than climbing trees, building forts in Uncle Nate's work out room, and riding awesome roller coasters like the Mine Train and Roaring Rapids?
Thank you Ryan for allowing us to join you in celebrating your birthday!! We love you!!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
I have to say that I feel like Alexander from the children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst. Have you read this book? If not, I definitely recommend it! (I think maybe as an adult, I appreciate this book more than ever...)
You see I was dreading this day before it even arrived. Ya know the days where you are told something is going to happen and you are left with the anxiety of how, when, where, why, and will it happen to me? Yup. That was today. Not only have I had a sincere dread for this day, I thought I had prepared myself for whatever news might come my way. Boy, was I wrong!!
So let me give you the picture:
10:00 pm (last night) - Me to Nate "My throat hurts and my ears are tingling. Ugggghhh I hope I'm not getting sick AGAIN!" (If you know me, you know that I have practically been sick since I started teaching Kindergarten in August with short spurts of feeling "normal.")
5:00 am (today) - I wake up with a very sore throat, stopped up nose, and achey body. Definitely know that I am sick again. Try to sleep a little longer. 7:00 am - Arrive at school to a very nervous atmosphere. Everyone is uneasily joking about losing their jobs. Haha, but not really.
7:45 am - A child throws up on his desk, himself, and the floor. Poor thing has to go home. Always a great way to start the day.
10:50 am - Told that I will not have a job next year due to the reduction in force in our school district.
10:50 to 11:35am - Cry, because that is all I can do. Being prepared for the news just flew out the window. Think to self, "Maybe I should move to Australia."
12:45ish - One of my students decides to play with his fork at lunch. He then proceeds to somehow jam it between his teeth, then became hysterical. Glad the nurse was able to fix this.
1:10pm - Another student in my class is vomiting in the bathroom. It was all over her clothes and the toilet. She goes home. (At least she made it to the toilet. Btw, I win the award by a landslide for "Most Vomiting in the Classroom" this year.)
1:20 pm - I think, "Well, what else ya got for me today? Bring it on!" (Advice: It is usually best not to ask this question.) Think to self, "Maybe I should move to Australia."
2:15 pm - My kids are put into a sugar frenzy from cupcakes and Capri Sun for a sweet classmate's birthday celebration.
3:15 pm - During tutoring, my student starts coughing and by the time I get him to his Mom's car, we think he is having an Asthma attack. I think to myself that it is a good thing that I am going home very soon. (Find out later that my poor student went to the hospital, but is doing better now. OMG)
Just like Alexander, I feel grumpy, upset, angry and hurt. Though, I know that cruddy things happen and that the hiccups in my day could have been a lot worse. Alexander and I both know that moving to Australia is not the answer either. :-)
Thankfully, I have a mighty God that has a bigger plan than I can possibly understand. A verse that has gotten me through times like this before, and that I am returning to now, is Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future."
Here is to hoping that "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days" are few and far between.

Where's the RSVP?
I have to admit that I might go on a rant, but I will try not too. BUT in case I do, this is your warning. =)
The last weekend of Spring Break, I planned a Lingerie Shower for my sweet friend Laura. I was super excited and just a little bit nervous because this was the first shower I have ever hosted. It would be held at my house and I definitely wanted the honored guest to have the best shower possible!
As the day quickly approached, I had no idea who would be attending. I start freaking just a little bit. Does this surprise those of you that know me? I keep thinking, did I not give enough options for contacting me? Why have I not heard from one person saying yes or no? Should I have written "regrets only?" Does this mean everyone is coming? Did I do the invitation thing all wrong? Wait, no. Laura knows that a few peeps won't be making it. Hmmmm.....what to do?
Then, I really start wondering where has etiquette gone? I really do understand that life is busy and mail piles up and intentions sometimes don't become reality. Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I've missed a few RSVPs in my day. But 20 or so people couldn't find the time? No offense to those invited to this shower, because this is not an isolated event. My mother-in-law and another friend had this happen recently as well. I mean as the planner you always plan for a certain percentage not responding, not coming, etc. It is just reality, but has it become reality to not hear from 95% or more of the guests? What would our great-grandmother's and grandmother's say about this? It would be mortifying in their day, right? I mean, what would Emily Post say about this? (I have her book and I'm pretty sure she would be offended.)
Thankfully, Laura was super sweet and helped me out by letting me know what she had heard and contacting most of the guest list. At the end of the day, we realized it was going to be an intimate group of 3 and we made the best of it!!
We started the evening at the house with hors d'oeuvres and champagne while chatting and opening gifts. Then, we headed to dinner at Toulouse with a bit more girl talk and food! It was a great evening!!
Here are a few pics from the shower part of our evening. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pics at dinner.
