Just want to share a little conversation from "C" and "J," two of my students. To set the mood, we were sitting at a short kindergarten table in small kindergarten chairs making sentences and writing them down. My friend, C, usually requires a lot of my attention, while J is very independent. The conversation proceeds:
C: Mrs. Spencer, my grandma, my Nana, picks me up from school.
Me: Oh really? That is nice.
C: (making a squinting face) Yeah, she's old. She is going to die. And when she does, she is going to heaven with God because that is where you go when you die. Ya know, to heaven with God.
Me: Mmmhhmmm (as I can't say much to this in a public school setting)
J has been listening and decides to give input: Uh huh and when you are bad, you go (he points down).
C: Yeah, when you are bad you go (he points down). Well, my Nana spanks me...
J very seriously: Probably because you were being bad. You know, C, you are bad in class.
C has a look of confusion on his face.
J very seriously again: Yeah, you are bad. You don't listen, you don't work hard, you move your clip to yellow, and you never do your morning work. You know you might go down there (points down).
C just stares at J with a contemplative look on his face...
At this point, I have to leave the table for fear of laughing hysterically.
Just another day in Kindergarten!

I feel like a woman! (Say this like the song, please)
Today, I spent time getting my femininity back. I felt after working 12-13 hour days that include dealing with boo-boos, crying, potty accidents, testing, throw-up, glue everywhere, sneezing, coughing, hugs, I love you's, learning to write, snot, learning to read, smiles, learning the alphabet, singing, dancing, hearing "I can't," hearing my name 25,000 times, laughter, and feeling exhausted, that I deserved some pampering. :-) (Please see disclaimer at bottom.)
Nothing makes me feel prettier and sexier than a new haircut. Heeeelllloooo new hairstyle. Out with the drab, in with the layers. I love the way I feel lighter, bouncier, and beautiful after "getting my hair did." I think I have finally found my new "Al." For those of you who don't know, Al was my hair stylist for about 10 years. I loved him. I sat down, he did his thing, and I always felt like a model leaving his salon. After moving to Dallas, I decided it was time to find someone a little closer than 4 hours. It has taken me 2.5 years, but thanks to Matthew Tully Hairdressing and Enrique, Al has been replaced. Relief. Here is a picture of my hair after laying on the couch for a few hours, but just pretend it's not flat....
I finished the afternoon by being lazy on the couch. I haven't had a day like this in over two months!! I'm sure you are wondering what Nate was doing today, huh? My poor husband was WORKING. Yes, while I spent the day relaxing, he spent the day slaving away at the office. He is still at work as I am writing this. Hopefully, tomorrow will be his day to relax!!
I'll leave you with a sweet picture of Bella playing with her towel a few minutes ago....
*Disclaimer: This is the only subject I could come up with for the blog. Our life is pretty boring right now because we sleep, eat, work, repeat. Sorry guys!!

I took this by myself in the mirror, talent, yes?
After my fantastic haircut, I proceeded to eat lunch on the patio of Chipotle. Yummy and relaxing! It was a gorgeous day in Dallas. Light breeze, sunny, 75 degrees - can you ask for better weather? Then, a pedicure and manicure at this little place close to the house. It might be dangerous that I could actually walk to get a pedicure, how convenient? Of course, as soon as I got home, Bella helped ensure that both my fingernails and toenails had her mark on them. Oh well, I knew come Monday it would get messed up anyway. Be jealous of my dark purple toes and french manicured fingernails....
